The rule in question required that immigrants provide proof of obtaining U.S. health insurance or show the means to pay for it within 30 days.
The reason for the bill is, or at least should have been, obvious. Trump is interested in filtering out people who come to the United States solely to use our welfare system.
The rule, of course, was immediately challenged by immigrant advocacy groups, arguing it “rewrites our immigration and healthcare laws by Presidential fiat.”
This case obviously has no grounds as President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is currently being upheld by other courts. DACA is entirely created by Presidential fiat.
Judicial activism is a plague running wild in our judiciary. Tt isn’t about law or precedent, it is about resisting Trump. Judges who are more interested in playing politics than actually upholding the law need to be removed.
