The Supreme Court is hearing arguments in a case involving identity theft by illegal immigrants.
The illegal immigrants are arguing that federal documents can not be used by states to prosecute them.
This, of course, is nonsensical. The illegal immigrants being tried had used citizens Social Security numbers to fabricate information to gain employment.
While the documents that were fabricated were federal forms, the state is still allowed to prosecute for fraud.
Unless the Supreme Court makes a huge departure from precedent, the case should be settled quickly.
This has been a clear case of identity theft which is a serious crime and it needs to be punished. Illegal immigrants should never be above the law.
