If Judge Bruce Schroesder of the Kenosha County Court doesn’t be careful, he’s going to end up as one of America’s national heroes.
Bruce is the man overseeing the murder trial of Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse is on trial for murder after firing upon some members of a mob that was attacking him during a Black Lives Matter riot.
While telling his side of the story, he broke down crying, leading to the trial taking a brief recess.
When the prosecution started to go after Rittenhouse, it began by questioning whether Rittenhouse was explaining what actually happened, or simply a lie about innocence that was constructed around what Rittenhouse had read and heard about the story.
Basically, why was Rittenhouse silent until now?
In the unedited version of the video, you can actually see the judges head blow off after hearing something so dumb.
Rittenhouse was silent before his trial… because he was EXERCISING HIS RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT.
The prosecution trying to make Rittenhouse exercising his basic rights into a negative thing in the eyes of the jury infuriated the judge, and he unloaded on the prosecution.
Judge: You need to account for this.
Defense attorney: Your Honor — I don’t want the jury to hear — he’s commenting on my client’s right to remain silent.
Prosecutor: No, Your Honor. I am making the point that after hearing everything int he case, now he’s tailoring his story to what has already been introduced.
Judge: The problem is, this is a grave constitutional violation for you to talk about the defendant’s silence, and that is — and you’re right on the borderline, and you may be over it. But it better stop.
Judge: This is — I can’t think of the case, the initial case on it. But this is not permitted.
