Vicky White was an assistant director of corrections for Lauderdale County Detention Center in Alabama.
Casey Cole White was being detained at the facility while awaiting trial.
On April 29, the pair left the jail alone together.
They wouldn’t return.
Instead, the pair led law enforcement on a multi-state manhunt that lasted almost two weeks.
Finally, police were able to trace the pair to a local motel and spotted the two leaving the area. A police chase ensued at this time.
U.S. Marshals caught up to the pair and pushed the vehicle into a ditch.
At this point the game was clearly over. Vicky White took that moment to end her own life by shooting herself in the head.
When Casey Cole White was captured, he told law enforcement that had Vicky not shot herself, her plan was to start firing at the officers.
In the months before the escape, Vicky White sold her home for only about half of what she could have gotten for it and had about $90,000 cash when she fled.
