After a sudden departure from Fox News, former anchor Shepard Smith could land with one of Fox’s biggest rivals.
CNN’s president Jeff Zucker signaled interest in bringing Smith onboard the network.
In an interview with CNN host Brian Stelter, Zucker said, “I think Shep’s a great journalist. When he’s available, he is somebody who is very talented and I would be very open to talking to him.”
Zucker expressed an interest in bringing in Smith as a different voice who would provide a viewpoint that represents the supporters of President Trump.
Zucker defened the statement by saying “it’s my belief that we should represent those out there who support Trump, what they think. […] It is hard to find people who will come on and support the president’s view. We need those voices, and I think there’s a place for them.”
It would be interesting to see if Zucker truly believes that. CNN is known for being less than honest about its political leanings, and Shep Smith wasn’t exactly known as Trump supporter to begin with.
