Nancy Pelosi just responded to the resignation of Secretary Alex Acosta.
“Thank god he’s gone,” she told a group of reporters in the Capitol.
Secretary Acosta announced Friday that he would be stepping down from his position as Labor Secretary.
His previous involvement and perceived mishandling of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal case was cited as his reason for resigning.
According to Pelosi “We have a secretary of Labor whose department oversees the sex-trafficking issue, where we have him do a sweetheart deal for a sex offender engaged in such sex trafficking, especially of children, young girls.”
Acosta was right to step down. Epstein’s newest charges have garnered national attention and put Acosta in a bad light. Acosta did not want that light to also reflect on the Trump administration.
