Christine Blasey Ford’s father offered support to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh after his daughter made accusations against him, the Daily Wire reported. Ralph Blasey told Kavanaugh’s father Ed Kavanaugh that he was glad his son was confirmed at the golf club where both were members.
Multiple sources reported overhearing the conversation at Burning Tree Golf Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Blasey Ford had accused Brett Kavanaugh of trying to rape her at a house party when both were in high school about 30 years earlier.
Blasey Ford’s allegations could not be substantiated, and he was confirmed in 2018 after contentious hearings. Blasey Ford’s lawyer Debra Katz later said her client’s allegations were at least partially politically motivated to keep Kavanaugh from having credibility if he would have occasion to vote to restrict abortion rights.
If Blasey had believed his daughter’s accusations, it is unlikely that he would have expressed support of Kavanaugh despite his friendship with his father.
It was unclear whether Blasey Ford and her father have a close relationship.
