The race for the White House in 2020 is already heating up, with a high-profile Democrat announcing she intends to run against President Trump.
U.S. Senator Kamala Harris of California — who has only held office since 2017 — made it official by releasing a campaign video on social media and pledged to “fight for our American values”.
In the video, she spouted one liberal catchphrase after another without going into any specifics on how she’d lead and work for a better America.
“Truth, justice, decency, equality, freedom, democracy, these aren’t just words,” says Harris in the video, an ironic claim not only because of this empty announcement, but because she has spent her short political career grandstanding in the Senate instead of working with President Trump to get things done.
As we inch ever-closer to the 2020 campaign, we can expect even more Democrats to line up to take a shot at winning their party’s nomination and face Trump in the general election. But if Senator Harris is the best Democrats can do, they are going to be disappointed. We’ve already had one inexperienced U.S. senator as president as we don’t need another.
