A non-binding Senate resolution to condemn the House’s impeachment inquiry now has 50 Republican co-sponsors after being introduced by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) last week.
Sens. Mitt Romney (UT), Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) are the only three Senate Republicans not to sign on to the measure, which criticized the impeachment inquiry by House Democrats for being too secretive and not following proper protocol.
The resolution requested open-door proceedings and sought “fundamental constitutional protections” for Trump as part of the process. Republicans in the committees where investigations are taking place claim they are being kept out of the process and aren’t even allowed to read transcripts without a Democrat staffer present.
“I would say if we pulled this, you’d be beating us alive,” Graham said about Democrat tactics. He also called the way Democrats were going about impeachment dangerous.
Graham did not say when the resolution would go to a vote.
