Russia’s national rugby team has officially been banned from participating in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.
The banishment is a punitive measure for the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin has not yet commented about whether or not being removed from the Rugby World Cup next year will cause him to withdraw all of his troops from Ukraine.
The news comes one day after Russia was dealt another sporting blow. Earlier this week, Formula One announced that the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi would be cancelled.
The International Ski Federation also announced that Russia would no longer be welcome at the organizations World Cup events.
