White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders responded to the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report with a tweet indicating President Trump will not interfere with the ongoing legal process.
“The next steps are up to Attorney General Barr, and we look forward to the process taking its course,” she tweeted. “The White House has not received or been briefed on the Special Counsel’s report.”
Sanders’ response was issued the same day that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer released a joint statement warning that Trump should not get a “sneak preview” of Mueller’s report or “be allowed to interfere.”
Grumblings over potential White House interference have been a part of the left’s narrative throughout the nearly two-year investigation.
But despite his vocal criticisms of the probe, Trump seems to have remained on the sidelines — a pattern he continues to follow.
For example, the Department of Justice has confirmed that Mueller’s work was not impeded in any way; and recently, Trump has begun insisting that he does not care if the full report is made public.
