Recently departed White House press secretary Sarah Sanders attended the Republican Governors Association (RGA) retreat in Aspen, Colorado on Sunday, adding to speculation that she may be considering a run for governor in Arkansas, the Hill reported.
Sanders was seen at a dinner hosted by the family of Fred Malek, a late GOP donor and RGA finance chairman, which kicked off the retreat. She is not scheduled to speak at the event.
Trump had called on Sanders to run for governor in his speech announcing her departure. He also mentioned her running in his Orlando re-election kickoff rally.
Sanders has not commented on whether she will run for governor, only saying that it was “time to go home” to Arkansas and spend more time with her kids and family.
Sanders’ father, former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, said that Sanders doesn’t know yet whether she will run for governor. “She’s going to take some time to get her kids enrolled in school in Arkansas for the fall, go to vacation, just have some downtime — which is something she hasn’t done,” Huckabee said.
