An announcement just dropped about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and his family is devastated. It’s a sad moment.
Former Vice President Joe Biden shouldn’t be apologizing to Anita Hill, who accused Thomas of sexual harassment during his 1991 confirmation hearings — Biden should be apologizing to Thomas instead.
As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, then-Senator Biden presided over Thomas’ hearings and did everything he could to destroy Thomas and sink his nomination to our nation’s highest court.
The irony, of course, is that Hill and many Democrats — especially younger, more liberal ones — don’t think Biden went far enough. They think he’s responsible for Thomas’ confirmation.
But reality paints a different picture, as Inez Stepman wrote this week for The Federalist. “Questioning her story, as Biden’s capitulation shows clearly, is no longer an option in polite company,” she said.
