An earth-shaking resignation announcement just hit the news. This enemy of President Trump’s is finished, and it can’t come soon enough. It’s time for justice to be served.
The once-popular governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rosello, is facing calls in his own country to resign after nasty private conversations were leaked and two of his former officials were arrested by the FBI.
Protesters gathered at Gov. Rossello’s mansion to demand his resignation, and demonstrators numbered in the thousands. Shockingly, the embattled governor still plans to run for re-election in 2020, but he better think twice.
Puerto Ricans are catching on to the corruption he’s embraced and allowed to spread throughout his cabinet. It has been so embarrassing, in fact, that the island’s chief financial officer and secretary of state recently resigned amid the scandals.
Ironically, Rossello’s two former officials arrested by the FBI are being charged with “diverting $15.5 million in federal contracts to politically connected consultants,” and Trump already warned about their potential misuse of emergency funds.
“You know it’s interesting, Puerto Rico … we gave Puerto Rico $91 billion for the hurricane. That’s the largest amount of money ever given to any state,” Trump said, but “we’re talking about other states and Puerto Rico [a] little different.”
