CNN host Jake Tapper angrily blasted President Donald Trump on Sunday for retweeting a post that blamed the Clintons for the death of Jeffrey Epstein in prison Saturday. Epstein’s death has been reported as a suicide, but is being investigated by police and federal authorities.
“The state of our union is appalled,” Tapper said. “President Trump using his massive Twitter platform to spread a deranged conspiracy theory tying the death of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in prison to the president’s former political rivals, the Clintons.”
Tapper refused to show the tweet, which contained the hashtags #ClintonCrimeFamily and #ClintonBodyCount. Trump “use his megaphone for anything. But the president often uses it to amplify that which is the worst of us: personal attacks, bigotry and insane conspiracy theories,” Tapper went on.
A former spokesman for Bill Clinton suggested that Trump’s retweet might have “triggered the 25th amendment,” which says a president can be replaced if it is proven that they can’t carry out their duties.
That’s the beauty of Trump, though, even if it drives the media and his political opponents crazy–or maybe because it does. He is a real person. Everyone is talking about Epstein’s death and whether it was really a suicide. Politicians are too nice–or too afraid–to say it publicly, but Trump’s not really a politician, is he?
