Ruth Bader Ginsberg is the oldest Supreme Court Justice at age 85. She’s a liberal justice in the age of Trump, which means that her retirement would fundamentally shift the court in a more conservative direction.
That makes her health one of the most closely watched subjects in politics – and a recent report indicates that the justice is ailing.
Lawyer Kevin Keller wrote a piece for the Baltimore Sun called “My trip inside the Supreme Court.” In it, he describes Ginsberg’s alarming decline:
“Many of the justices have aged significantly from the image in my mind. At times, I could not tell if Justice Ginsburg was awake or reading — almost the entire time she looked straight down, where the audience could only see her hair and her shoulders. When she spoke, it was sometimes not discernible if she was asking a question or making a statement.”
While we wish Justice Ginsberg the best health possible, it’s clear that she needs to retire. That may be a not-so-far-off event.
