A major rape verdict was just released, and the nation is stunned. It is a headline that is impossible to ignore about a disgusting act of pure evil.
According to reports, a 27-year-old Egyptian national named Ahmed Elgaafary was arrested and later found guilty of raping a drunk woman in the backseat of his Uber vehicle. He will be formally sentenced soon and faces deportation.
The prosecutor in the case, Assistant District Attorney Vincent Robert Cocco, made the most powerful, straight-forward statement during court proceedings. “She should had been safe,” said Cocco.
He continued: “He knew she was vulnerable. He knew she was alone. He knew she was too drunk.” Yes, Elgaaray himself reportedly admitted that he knew she was drunk, but he tried to claim the act was still consensual.
Melissa Berlot McCafferty, his attorney, said, “He cheated on his wife. He’s not a rapist. He’s not a criminal.” But this defense clearly did not sit well with the court.
After Elgaafary picked up the woman at a Pennsylvania casino, the rest is now documented fact. He was convicted “after a week-long trial of raping an unconscious woman, who he was supposed to be driving home as part of his job,” said Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan.
