Pelosi just gave notice – she wants to change the law to allow sitting presidents to be indicted.
Pelosi has been very cautious about her support for impeachment.
She has been straddling the line between the political damage that the impeachment movement causes, and her radical base that wants impeachment at all costs.
Pelosi clarified her thoughts on the matter, “I do think that we will have to pass some laws that will have clarity for future presidents. [A] president should be indicted, if he’s committed a wrongdoing — any president.”
This is at odds with past precedent. Justice Department guidelines have always held that a sitting President cannot be indicted.
Of course, all this posturing ignores the fact there is nothing to indict Trump for. Mueller’s report has already declared him free and clear.
