Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is devastated. Her push for impeachment is blowing up before very eyes, and this “hot mic” moment may have ended it all for good.
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), a ranking Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, reminded Democrats about President Obama being caught on a “hot mic” speaking to then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
“Are you aware, during the 2012 election when, at the time, President Obama leaned over on a hot mic to the then-Russian president and said that he’d have to wait until after the election?” asked Nunes.
Was that inflammatory to all Ukrainians also?” continued Nunes. At the time, the Republican congressman was questioning acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, a witness called up by the Democrats.
Taylor responded, “I don’t know, sir.” This particular line of questioning from Nunes came after Taylor claimed President Trump “made a statement saying that it was possible that he would allow Crimea to go back to Russia.”
The ambassador said that such a statement was “amazingly inflammatory to all Ukrainians,” yet, when Nunes brought up the 2012 incident between Obama and the Russian president, Taylor was caught and so were the Democrats.
