Oprah Winfrey just made a decision. She’s moving forward and nothing can stop her. The mainstream media is covering all of the details.
In a stunning announcement, Winfrey has given $500,000 to a New Jersey high school to help operate their ‘Lights On’ program, an effort launched by the principal to keep kids off the street between 6 p.m. and midnight.
The gift will allow the program to remain open throughout the summer for three nights a week in Newark, a city with a staggeringly high crime rate compared to the rest of New Jersey and even the nation.
Winfrey has been quieter the past several years since ending her popular and longrunning talk show in 2011. However, many are wondering if this move is signaling a return to the spotlight and what it could mean.
In fact, the media superstar has still found time to criticize President Trump, despite her friendly history with him. “Oprah was a friend of mine until I ran for office. Once I ran for office she diverged,” said Trump in 2018.
Even so, Winfrey should be lauded for putting her wealth to good use to help those less fortunate. Like Trump, she is a longtime philanthropist with a heart for people. She should be working with Trump instead of fighting him.
