Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a proud socialist in the mold of Bernie Sanders, just threw a massive hissy fit. The demand she issued is nasty and she needs to be held accountable.
Once again failing Economics 101, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Croissants at LaGuardia are going for SEVEN DOLLARS A PIECE. Yet some people think getting a whole hour of personal, dedicated human labor for $15 is too expensive??”
Due to her lack of basic knowledge and research, her push for a $15 minimum wage falls flat here. Ironically, the airport croissant she purchased was made by employees likely making at least $13.60 an hour. And there’s even more to the story.
By 2023, the minimum wage at LaGuardia Airport will reach $19 an hour after a phased-in increase instituted by the board that runs the airport takes full effect. So, in her demand for a $15 minimum wage, she’s exposed her own economic ignorance.
Whenever the minimum wage is increased by law or via another governing authority, the cost is always passed on to the consumer. Ocasio-Cortez’s croissant was $7 at least partially as a result of policies that she supports.
This is yet another stunning example as to why Ocasio-Cortez is unfit to represent anyone, even the predominately liberal voters of her district. If she cannot understand basic economic concepts, how can she be trusted to serve in Congress and make major decisions?
