In a sign that far left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s star may be fading, the freshman congresswoman received a sharp rebuke during the liberal National Action Network convention.
A fellow New Yorker, businessman Tracy Maitland, called for Ocasio-Cortez’s ouster, citing her economic incompetence.
In particular, Maitland, who serves as president and chief investment officer of Advent Capital Management, skewered Ocasio-Cortez for her role in derailing a deal that would have brought a new Amazon headquarters to New York City.
“This was a disgrace. I partially blame AOC for the loss of Amazon. She doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. That’s scary,” Maitland said. “We have to make sure she’s better educated or vote her out of office.”
Maitland called out Ocasio-Cortez for not understanding that a $3 billion tax credit based on jobs created would not have been the same as giving Amazon a $3 billion check.
Another participant, Bill Thompson, who is chairman of the City University of New York, lamented that jobs were “snatched away” from Latino and black students as a result of the Amazon pullout.
