Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal took a brutal lashing from fromer Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz — and the left wasn’t happy.
Speaking at SXSW, the self-described centrist, who walked away from the Democratic Party after being turned off by its increasingly far left stances, mocked the proposal as an “Alice in Wonderland fantasy.”

“That’s a great idea but it’s never gonna happen,” Schultz said. “Let’s propose t hings that are true, that are honest, that are sincere and realistic.”
Schultz is considering joining the 2020 presidential race as an independent who will appeal to middle-of-the-road voters. But few such voters seemed to be present at SXSW.
Schultz drew boos as he warned of the dangers of socialism, saying, “If you want a good description of socialism, just look at Venezuela.”
