At least three military veterans–also community leaders–who were present at a closed-door meeting with New York City Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez walked out of that meeting because her comments bashing President Donald Trump and America upset them, the Daily Mail reported.
The Wednesday meeting in the Bronx included criticisms of Trump’s handling of Yemen’s civil war and remarks that Trump and Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu were both “autocrats.”
One anonymous attendee told the New York Post he was “revolted” by the comments prior to walking out. Two others, Silvio Mazzella and Anthony
Vitaliano also walked out because of her comments. they told the Daily Mail.
Ocasio-Cortez claimed that those who left the meeting early had to pick up their children, but that does not appear to be true in these cases.
“She knocks the country, she knocks the president. And that’s not what America is about,” Mazzella said.
Vitaliano was sitting between the congresswoman and one of her staff members but still left the meeting disgusted at what he heard.
“I just couldn’t hear her BS anymore,” the former CB11 chairman said. “I just got up, got my umbrella in my hand and walked right out.”
