It won’t bring him back, but Francis Wayne Alexander’s friends and family finally know what happened to him. His body has been found.
Alexander was murdered in 1976 or 1977 by America’s most hated clown, John Wayne Gacy. His remains were stashed under a crawl space in Gacy’s house.
According to justthenews.com, Alexander’s remains were able to be identified after genetic testing was performed on a tooth.
Sheriff Thomas Dart says it remains unclear as to how Alexander crossed paths with Gacy, as Gacy’s victims were usually construction workers lured in with the promise of work. Alexander had no history in construction, instead finding employment mostly in bars and nightclubs.
His family was shocked to learn that Alexander was a victim of Gacy, having previously assumed the man had cut off contact simply because he wanted to be left alone.
“It is hard, even 45 years later, to know the fate of our beloved Wayne,” Alexander’s sister, Carolyn Sanders said. “He was killed at the hands of a vile and evil man. Our hearts are heavy, and our sympathies go out to the other victims’ families. We can now lay to rest what happened and move forward by honoring Wayne.”
