John Paul Stevens served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1975 to 2010.
He passed away in 2019, but the impacts of his legacy are still being felt, and probably will be for quite some time.
Case in point: the Uvalde shooting. Despite Stevens passing away three years ago, some in America are repeating the words they heard from him after a mass shooting in 2018:
Repeal the 2nd Amendment.
That’s right, it’s just what you think it is.
At least one Supreme Court Justice has come out in opposition to the 2A.
Forget about judges only being supposed to interpret the law, Stevens was ready to change it himself.
In February 2018, after 17 people were killed at a school shooting, Judge Stevens came out with a pretty radical opinion at age 98.
“They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment.”
Unfortunately for lovers of the Constitution, that sentiment doesn’t appear to have died with him.
