House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said on Wednesday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was responsible for the breakdown of communication between Republicans and Democrats in the House, and called her behavior part of a “pattern” that was aimed at trying to make meetings unproductive.
“She storms out of another meeting–trying to make it unproductive,” McCarthy said. “The rest of the Democrats stayed and actually had a very productive meeting.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer agreed that communication between Trump and Pelosi was unproductive, but seemed to blame Trump for comments like saying she was a “third-grade politician.”
Pelosi announced several weeks ago that the House would conduct an impeachment inquiry into Trump, but has refused to put it to a formal vote in the House.
Trump has responded that unless she conducts a full House vote, he and his administration will not cooperate with the investigation.
