Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been defeated. Her power-hungry reign is over, and President Trump is pleased. She’s done being an obstructionist.
In a radical reversal, Democratic leaders, likely seeing the polls on this issue, have endorsed Trump’s $4.5 billion plan to address the crisis on our southern border and are no longer calling the problem “manufactured.”
But it wasn’t long ago that Speaker Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer parroted an entirely different view. Both accused Trump of “manufacturing a crisis at the border,” which, as Americans know, is ridiculous.
The aid package proposed by Trump will address major issues, including the expansion of detention facilities and resources to continue crucial investigations. This is a huge win for Trump and, ultimately, for America.
In the end, Pelosi and Schumer were forced to accept reality and the pleas of the American people. And it’s because Trump refused to give up the fight. He knows when to be hard-nosed and when to make a deal.
This move by Pelosi and Schumer also signals a defeat of Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) fear-mongering. She recently likened border detention of illegal immigrants to “concentration camps,” showing her ignorance once again.
