Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi just confirmed it. This is the end of an era — DC is now more corrupt than it ever has been before, and it happened under her watch.
Pelosi continues to resist calls to hold a formal House vote on an impeachment inquiry into President Trump, even though House precedent and the Constitution are against her. It is all about what’s politically beneficial to her at the time.
During a broadcast of ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight,’ Fox News’ Bit Hume noted, “I frankly can’t think of a good reason, from her point of view, why she would hold a vote,” because it would hurt Democrats in swing districts.
Hume continued: “This way, she gets to get all the fruits of this peculiar investigation that she announced going on, and none of the downsides. They’re conducting a very unusual investigation.”
Despite the fact that President Trump has called for a fair process and Republicans are rightly demanding a vote, Pelosi declared recently that “there’s no requirement that we have a vote, and so at this time we will not be having a vote.”
According to history, a formal vote on an impeachment inquiry has always been held in order to involve the entire House of Representatives. The Constitution also says that the House “shall have the sole Power of Impeachment,” not only a select few members or one party.
