Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is reportedly nearing an end, but not without stunning millions before it all comes to a close.
Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, is the target of a new sentencing memo filed by Mueller. The document is over 800 pages long and claims Manafort has “repeatedly and brazenly” broken the law.
In his memo, Mueller does not suggest how many years he thinks Manafort should serve in prison, however, he writes that “Manafort presents many aggravating sentencing factors and no warranted mitigating factors.”
Manafort is already looking at potentially serving 19 to 24 years in prison over alleged financial fraud in Virginia, so any sentencing that came out of this DC case — connected to his lobbying for Ukraine — would add to his overall term.
Unsurprisingly, given that Mueller has yet to prove collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to affect the outcome of the 2016 election, he is clamping down as hard as he can in order to declare some kind of victory.
Regardless of how Manafort’s individual cases conclude, however, you can bet that liberal Democrats in Congress and the mainstream media will be working overtime to fashion any narrative they can to make President Trump look like a culprit.
