New documents obtained by Judicial Watch about the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate President Donald Trump indicate that former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had off-the-record conversations with Mueller in 2017 before his appointment.
One of the documents about Rosenstein’s conversations cites an email that says, “The boss and his staff do not know about our discussions.” The boss Rosenstein refers to is then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Judicial Watch said in a tweet that the documents “confirm the dishonest corruption behind Rosenstein’s appointment of Robert Mueller.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said that the Rosenstein conversations help to explain why the left doesn’t want Trump to investigate the origins of the Mueller probe.
““You notice this with the Ukraine argument — they don’t want the president to investigate what went on,” reiterated Fitton. “They want to criminalize investigations of this activity.”
