Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) just ended the speculation. He stunned reporters and political observers alike with this move, and the Washington establishment is in an uproar.
As the debate about reparations for slavery is rekindled by left-wing politicians, Sen. McConnell has made it clear where he stands on the issue: He’s completely opposed to the Democrat proposal and for good reason.
“I don’t think reparations for something that happened 150 years ago, for whom none of us currently living are responsible, is a good idea,” said McConnell.
He continued: “I don’t think we should be trying to figure out how to compensate for it. First of all, it would be hard to figure out whom to compensate.”
McConnell also made the point that America has worked hard to “deal with our original sin of slavery by fighting a civil war, by passing landmark civil rights legislation” and even electing “an African American president.”
Of course, this will not be nearly enough for Democrats, who want to hold living Americans responsible for an evil they did not commit. Instead, they’ve trotted out notorious race-baiters like actor Danny Glover to testify and throw red meat to the party’s radical base.
