The United States, the United Kingdom, and Romania said last weekend that they believe it was Iran that launched an attack on an Israeli oil tanker last week.
One Briton and one Romanian were killed in the attack.
Iran has denied that they were involved, and also warned against a retaliatory strike, saying that it would hold America and Britain responsible for anything that happened as a result.
Obviously Iran’s claim that they had nothing to do with the situation doesn’t agree with America’s evaluation of the incident, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying “We are confident that Iran conducted this attack.”
“We are working with our partners to consider our next steps and consulting with governments inside the region and beyond on an appropriate response, which will be forthcoming,” Blinken concluded.
