Second Lady Karen Pence just broke her silence. She’s spoken out for the first time and responded to the pernicious rumors, and the news is spreading nationwide.
Appearing on The Brian Kilmeade show on Fox Radio, Pence responded to the merciless attacks on her family’s faith from Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, the outspoken and openly-gay major of South Bend, Indiana.
“I think in our country we need to understand you shouldn’t be attacked for what your religious beliefs are and I think kids need to learn that at a young age that this is OK, what faith people have; we don’t attack them for their faith,” said Pence.
She also brushed off Buttigieg’s comments as someone who is just trying to “get some notoriety,” but also noted that her vice president husband — the former Indiana governor — and Buttigieg “have always had a great relationship.”
Pence’s response came after Buttigieg decided to mention the vice president by name. “I can tell you that if me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade,” said Buttigieg. “And that’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand.”
He continued: “If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.” Of course, Mike and Karen Pence are good Christians and nothing but kind to everyone. Buttigieg is just trying to score cheap political points.
