News is spreading about a Trump removal vote. The U.S. Senate was just notified, and DC has been rocked. There’s no turning back now.
In a public statement, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made it clear that the impeachment inquiry against President Trump is a “nearly three-year-old fixation” by Democrats and he won’t be removed.
“Washington Democrats have been searching for ways to reverse their 2016 election defeat since before President Trump was even inaugurated,” said McConnell, in the opening of his statement.
He went on to note that this obsession “has been a two-and-a-half-year impeachment parade in search of a rationale,” and it hasn’t ended, even though an investigation “deflated their breathless accusations” about a Trump-Russia scandal.
Also, to her credit, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi — despite her anti-Trump political grandstanding — had kept impeachment on the table. But she has now given in to the likes of Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
“Speaker Pelosi’s much-publicized efforts to restrain her far-left conference have finally crumbled,” said McConnell. “Hosue Democrats cannot help themselves.” This is one of the many reasons why Democrats will be defeated in 2020.
