Not only was House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) perfectly fine with shutting down Republican witnesses and questioning during the impeachment hearings, but he was also fine with using kids during an appearance on the Stephen Colbert show to try to shame the public for not wanting to see President Donald Trump impeached and removed from office.
“I wonder how they are going to explain one day when their grandchild comes to them and says, ‘Granddad, Grandma, please tell me what you did when that unethical man, that terrible man, that man who was putting people in cages, dividing our country, extorting our allies, please tell me what you did to stand up to that man,’” Shiff said. “What will their answer be? For all too many, it will be nothing. It will be nothing except shame.”
Schiff’s comments came the night before the Judiciary Committee forwarded two articles of impeachment to the full House for a vote that is expected to come next week.
Schiff claims that Trump abused his power in a phone call with Ukraine and then obstructed Congress’s attempts to investigate his alleged wrongdoing, despite no witnesses in impeachment hearings having any proof that Trump did anythign wrong.
Polls have indicated that the majority of American voters don’t support impeachment and removal of Trump because they don’t think Democrats proved their case that Trump’s conduct was actually impeachable.
