Roger Stones’ legal team has made a bombshell move. They just filed for a petition that would remove Judge Amy Berman Jackson from the case.
Stone received a 40-month prison sentence for lying to congress. But the trial was riddled with problems, from overzealous prosecutors to a biased head juror.
The issue with the biased head juror has yet to be resolved and there is an ongoing investigation into it.
Jackson issued an opinion that the jury had “served with integrity,” and she is now providing Stone’s legal team with cause to call for her dismissal.
Former Democrat party leader David Schoen said, “I was shocked with some of the things she said. She was very angry. She’s very smart and she knows how to make her record. But she kept on making political statements while disclaiming that this case is not at all about politics.”
Stone may have a good chance of getting a new judge and a new trial. His 40-month prison sentence is far from a sure thing.
