An obstruction announcement was just issued nationwide. The Democrats’ impeachment effort is blowing up before their very eyes — this is the end of the road.
“Nancy Pelosi is attempting to obstruct a Senate trial,” said Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO). “That’s all there is to it.” He is referring to Pelosi’s refusal to send articles of impeachment to the Senate.
Hawley continued: “The Constitution says that the Senate is the one that will have the trial. It says the trial will follow the impeachment. Now, she’s trying to prevent a trial.”
He went on to note how Pelosi’s actions “obstruct” the entire process and “upend the Constitution,” but he also proposed a way to fix the problem — and Democrats aren’t going to like it.
Echoing the words of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Hawley believes that Republicans should “change the Senate rules to allow the Senate to dismiss this case if she refuses to send the articles over.”
The reason why Pelosi is stalling couldn’t be more obvious: As soon as she transmits impeachment articles to the Senate, her entire game is over. She wants to draw this out as long as possible.
