Apparently, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi felt betrayed by the Trump administration – because she wasn’t notified of the airstrike in Iraq.
Her complaints will fall on deaf ears as Pelosi has made it clear she isn’t interested in working with President Trump.
In a statement from the Speakers office released on Thursday, Pelosi said: “Tonight’s airstrike risks provoking further dangerous escalation of violence. America – and the world – cannot afford to have tensions escalate to the point of no return. Further, this action was taken without the consultation of the Congress.”
President Trump had no legal obligation to consult Congress on the airstrike. The strike that killed Iranian Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani was carried out in Iraq as retaliation for the attack on the U.S. embassy.
Pelosi wants the administration to work with her but she has also been impossible to work with. Pelosi and her Democrat cohorts would have done whatever they could to stop the strike.
President Trump had the will to strike hard and fast in retaliation for what Iran did. Attacks on the United States will not go unpunished.
