News just broke about a key figure in the raid against ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. He was seriously injured, and President Trump has already paid tribute.
According to reports, a military canine was involved in the successful raid to root out the terrorist. “A beautiful dog, a talented dog, was injured and brought back,” said Trump.
Trump later shared a photo of the hero on Twitter. “We have declassified a picture of the wonderful dog (name not declassified) that did such a GREAT JOB in capturing and killing the Leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi!” he said.
The canine is a lovely German Shepherd with a wonderful smile. This particular breed is often used by military and police alike for its agility, power, and intelligence. And we have a storied history of teaming up with man’s best friend.
Dogs have been used throughout much of U.S. war history, with heavy use occurring in World War I — though there were instances before then. The U.S. Army also established the War Dog Program in 1942 for training purposes.
The prayers of Americans nationwide are certainly with the dedicated canine that helped take down a top target. The world is safer because of his bravery. Good boy.
