Former campaign chairman for President Donald Trump Paul Manafort was hospitalized Thursday for a cardiac event. Manafort was in jail serving a seven-and-a-half year sentence for tax, bank fraud, and conspiracy charges as part of Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump’s Russia ties.
Manafort was supposed to appear in court on Wednesday but will not attend the hearing now, lawyer Todd Blanche said.
He was supposed to have been transferred to Rikers Island earlier this year where he would be held in solitary confinement, but the transfer never took place.
Former Trump deputy campaign manager and past business partner of Manafort Rick Gates was sentenced Tuesday to 45 days in prison and three years of probation for consulting activities in Ukraine.
If Mueller wasn’t so hell-bent on trying to get someone for some sort of crime through his two-plus year investigation, and if they were Democrats, I doubt whether either one of these would have even been charged.
