Democratic Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax admitted that he did engage in sexual contact with a woman accusing him of a 2004 sexual assault. According to the Washington Examiner, the woman came forward with accusations of sexual coercion in 2017 to the Washington Post.
Fairfax is Lt. Gov to the embattled Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. Northam is facing calls from all sides to resign his position. Northam’s resignation would place Fairfax in his office.
Fairfax has denied any claims of sexual assault, describing the encounter as “100 percent consensual”, and claiming that his accuser lied. The Washington Post refuted his statement, saying “The Post did not find ‘significant red flags and inconsistencies within the allegations,’ as the Fairfax statement incorrectly said.”
Democrats have chosen to sweep the accusations against Fairfax under the rug. Maintaining a Democrat governor in Virginia is more important than investigating the claims. The Left is only willing to “believe all accusers” when it is convenient for them.
