Democrats criticized Trump’s plan on how to handle the strained relationship between Turkey and Syria. However, his dedication to the plan has paid off — and now Turkey is helping in the fight against ISIS.

The spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted how the U.S. and Turkey worked together. “Our military and intelligence units were in touch with their American colleagues on this matter,” said Ibrahim Kalin.
“They were coordinating as well. Particularly, the other night, on the night of the operation, we can say that there was intense diplomacy between our militaries. We are happy for this operation and we support it,” he continued.
This renewed alliance in the Middle East, the defeat of ISIS leader Abū Bakr al-Baghdadi, and the ceasefire between Turkey and Syria are already paying dividends. Trump should be commended for his leadership.
