After dodging a potential prison sentence for faking a hate crime against himself, actor Jussie Smollett seems to have dodged a blow to his career as well.
When Smollett was removed from the final two episodes of season five of “Empire,” his firing seemed imminent.
But fellow “Empire” star Taraji P. Henson confirmed during an appearance on “The View” that Smollett will indeed return for season six.
“Yes,” she answered. “I haven’t heard anything else.”
Henson’s claim may turn out to be moot, however, as Fox has not yet announced whether “Empire” will even be renewed.
Smollett has faced rebuke from both conservatives and liberals after pleading guilty to 16 counts of disorderly conduct for his ill-conceived attempt to garner attention and boost his career.
