A Bronx judge has ruled that President Donald Trump must give a videotaped deposition to answer a lawsuit against him, Trump Tower, and three security guards who six Mexican immigrants say assaulted them during a 2015 protest.
The immigrants’ lawyer says he will be claiming that Trump condoned and directed the behavior of his employees, and that Trump should have known that his employees would act “in a negligent or reckless manner.”
One of the guards, Keith Schiller, is accused of punching a protester in the head and grabbing his sign. Schiller said the sign was large and was blocking the sidewalk, and that he only punched the protester after he was suddenly grabbed from behind.
Schiller thought the protester was trying to grab his gun, he said.
If convicted, Trump could be ordered to pay substantial punitive damages to the plaintiffs in the case.
