A judge just handed down her ruling in a case that has captured the attention of the entire nation. The outcome has already sparked a firestorm of commentary, including her decision to demand ‘total silence’ from the victorious party.
Jeffrey Younger, a Texas father who has been fighting to keep his seven-year-old son, James, from ‘transitioning’ to a girl has been granted joint conservatorship of the boy with his ex-wife, but a gag order was placed on him by the judge.
This means that while Younger will have a say in the matter — which is a major relief, given the tender boy’s age — he must take down his website advocating for son. He also cannot speak to press about the case.
To recap: The boy’s mother, Anne Georgulas, claimed that their son is transgendered and sought the right to give him “hormone therapy and puberty suppression” without any input from the father over this life-altering decision.
Judge Kim Cooks disagreed with Georgulas, thereby overturning a disastrous decision by the jury declaring that “Younger could not prevent Georgulas from allowing their son to change genders.”
Younger argued from the beginning that their son was perfectly content to be a boy, while Georgulas was advised by an LGBT family therapist and a pediatrician to transition him. It wasn’t long before top officials got involved.
Even Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke out. Abbott opened an investigation, while Cruz said that the state “should protect this child’s right to choose — as an informed, mature person — and not be used as a pawn in a left-wing political agenda.”
