A liberal judge from San Francisco has engaged in judicial activism and ordered President Trump’s administration to clamp down on a policy intended to keep Americans safe.
Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler ruled that the administration must move forward with processing the applications for about 2,7000 Central American immigrants under the Central American Minors (CAM) program implemented by former President Obama.
Back in 2017, the Trump administration announced it was ending CAM, saying that the federal government “will no longer automatically consider parole requests from individuals denied refugee status in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.”
According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, the CAM program provides certain minors from the aforementioned countries “the opportunity to be considered, while still in their home country, for refugee resettlement in the United States.”
Judge Beeler stopped short of ruling that CAM had to be reinstated, and instead focused on the nearly 3,000 applications currently in limbo — an unfortunate setback in the goal of rebuilding national security after the Obama years.
While President Trump focuses on stopping illegal immigration, beefing up border control, and ensuring that we better vet those who travel here, liberal judges like Beeler will continue to only be concerned with one thing: Playing politics with the security of America.
