In a twist surprising absolutely nobody, the government got it wrong again.
In court documents filed on July 2, 2021, the federal government claimed that law enforcement “recovered a fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set” from capitol riot suspect Robert Morss.
The find was noteworthy as The Capitol set is currently one of the most sought-after LEGO sets in existence, currently priced at $266.95 on Amazon.
However, the DOJ recently amended their claim in a new filing:
“In the original detention memoranda, the undersigned stated that law enforcement found a ‘fully constructed U.S. Capitol Lego set.’ Please note that after a review of the photographs from the search, there appears to have been a miscommunication and that statement appears to be inaccurate. The Lego set was in a box and not fully constructed at the time of the search, as pictured below.”
