The Supreme court has ruled against the Trump administration.
Despite Trump’s best efforts, the issue of adding a citizenship question to the next census is still up in the air.
Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the liberal justices in the 5-4 decision.
The ruling did not say that a citizenship question was unconstitutional, but that the argument used to support it was ‘pretextual’.
This leaves room for this administration to come back with a stronger argument.
The question is, will this issue be re-addressed before the next census?
