Top reporter Trish Regan tweeted Sunday that Iran may be willing to negotiate with the U.S. and President Donald Trump. Recent provocations by Iran have led the U.S. to consider, then pull back from airstrikes against it.
The U.S. did launch a major cyberoffensive against the nation to cripple its missile systems and other military weaponry controlled by computers. Some in the Trump administration, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, reportedly want stronger action against Iran for its actions, including shooting down an unmanned drone.
“BREAKING: Iranian source tells me “we WILL negotiate with the US,” Regan, a Fox Business host and Fox News contributor, wrote. She also called it a “MAJOR development for @realDonald Trump and his administration.”
Willingness to negotiate signals that Iran is becoming more desperate to end sanctions against it. It would seem that the U.S. now has the upper hand in relations with the Middle Eastern nation.
Iran has recently threatened that it may not adhere to a 2015 nuclear agreement unless the U.S. lifts sanctions. It said that it may begin enriching more uranium than the agreement allows. Trump pulled the U.S. pulled out of the agreement last year and is seeking to renegotiate the deal, however. And it looks like Iran might be ready to cooperate with his wishes.
